Steve Jobs Biography – 1955 to 2011
Steve Jobs, the name synonymous with Apple and the infamous Keynotes is no more! That news has been creating waves around the world, not just with those within the Apple Company, but others who have been using Apple products or simply following a man so legendary. He was a man with focus and vision, dressed in a simple black turtleneck and Blue jeans; he managed to revolutionize the way people looked at computers and mp3 players.
He co-founded the Apple Company in a simple Silicon Valley garage in 1976, and has since then created a multimillion or billion dollar company that has clients and customers across the globe. He lived a good 56 years, where he dedicated every minute to bringing something new to the table, keeping his audience engaged, and his customers happy. That is the kind of man Steve Jobs was and will remain.
He pioneered the personal computer, proved that all computers don’t have to square in shape and that one can use a mouse to move things around onscreen. Following the success of the Apple computers, Steve went on to the world of mp3 players and introduced the iPod, which now has so many models that people are eyeing the next one already. He has also introduced the world to the 1st completely touch based phone- the iPhone, and of course the newest product in the market, being the iPad tablet.
Apple has set standards so high that all other companies such as Motorola, Samsung, LG, Nokia and Sony Ericsson are today compared with Apple and their products. The tablets are all good, but they are not iPad is what people say. Even though the Apple products were expensive, people bought them nevertheless, because they were all cutting edge technology, style and appearance.
Steve recently resigned from Apple saying he was no longer able to fulfill his duties as CEO, which is when news of his illness was announced. Many chose to think of it as a rumor, but alas, today, when we see the news of his passing away, we realize it was indeed true!!
“Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives,” Apple said in a statement. “The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”
The world has lost an ideator, a visionary and a man of passion, but his ideas, thoughts, and creations will continue to rule the world for years to come!
Who was Jobs?
He was co-founder, the chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc.
Steve Jobs was given up for adoption with the condition that the adoptive parents will give him the best there is in education. How ironic though that he dropped out of college- Oregon’s Reed College to start working at an early age.
What many don’t know is that Jobs served as CEO of Pixar Animation Studios and in 2006 became part of the Board of Directors at The Walt Disney Company. This was just after Walt Disney took over Pixar.
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” he said during his speech in Stanford University.
When he did resign from Apple Inc on August 24th 2011, he appointed Tim Cook as his successor, and Jobs was given a place in the Board of Directors, which he held till his death!
Steve Jobs, you will be missed!
